Excerpt from "Breakfast Dainties"

The desire of the average man is to remain in bed until the very last moment. A carefully prepared breakfast is barely chewed by the late riser, so the best of housekeepers is discouraged from making one.  In this way she is innocently driven into a rut from which it is difficult to escape, even when proper occasions present themselves.

The following recipes and remarks will be valuable assistants to those so in this situation.  They will offer many practical suggestions to develop skills in this much-neglected branch of cookery. Avoid asking that innocent but often annoying question, "What shall we have for breakfast?"  Rely upon your own resources and inventiveness, and you will soon master the situation.

If you’re busy, try subscribing to a reliable newspaper that makes a specialty of reporting the latest culinary news.  Steaks and chops can be heroes of the breakfast table, but not if they are served too much.  They can only be truly appreciated when they are interspersed with lighter dishes.
