Mary
"You
can relax now," said the detective.
"It's all over."
Mary
was exhausted. She was a sack of
potatoes as she sat down on the couch.
She had escaped from the bandits, delivered the secret letter, and
recovered her stolen necklace. Now it was
time to get some sleep.
"Thanks
to you," the detective was saying, "we finally have the evidence we
need to send these criminals to jail for good.
It will be all over the front page tomorrow. You'll be a hero."
That
all sounded great to Mary. But not as
great as a long night's sleep.
