Finding Clues

Something about the room didn't seem right.

"Was anyone here before me?" I asked the maid.

"No, sir," she said, but her eyes were screaming something else.  It was clear she was too scared to say more, so I went about investigating the scene.

In one of the desk drawers was a torn piece of paper.  An address was scribbled on it in sloppy handwriting.  It could be a clue, I thought.  I jotted down the address on my notepad and decided that it would be a good place to start.

The man's wife was crying by the door.  "Don't worry," I said as I walked out.  "I'll find your painting.  And I'll make sure that whoever took it will pay!"
