Briefcase

10:02 AM

"Hello, Sam." I said, giving him a big smile.  He had that confident look on his face that I hated.

"Nice to see you, Roger."  he said.  He looked so smug.

I walked passed him a few steps, and then turned around.  "By the way," I said, as if it was an afterthought.  "I found your missing briefcase."

Sam did his best to keep that smirk on his face, but I could tell he was surprised.  "Really," he said, "was it opened?"

"No," I answered.  "Is there something valuable inside?"

"Not at all," he said, but I'm sure he was lying.  "I just wouldn't want anyone going through my stuff."  He stared at me after he said that, as if accusing me of a crime.

"Hello, Sam." he said, giving me a big smile.  I tried to act like it was no surprise to see him, which I'm sure he hated.

"Nice to see you, Roger."  I said, doing my best to look self-assured.

He walked passed me a few steps, and then turned around.  "By the way," he said casually.  "I found your missing briefcase."

This shocked me.  I did my best to keep smiling.  "Really," I said, "was it opened?"

"No," he answered, clearly enjoying the moment.  "Is there something valuable inside?"

"Not at all," I said, knowing that wasn't true.  "I just wouldn't want anyone going through my stuff."  I stared at him accusingly.
