The Battle
"How
far away is the next galaxy?" Captain Sheldon asked.
"Three
light years," answered the navigator.
Another
laser blast hit the ship, shaking it like a palm tree in a hurricane.
"Put
the ship into warp drive," said the Captain, surprisingly composed for a man whose ship was being chased by a strange
alien race. In a way, he seemed to enjoy
the battle.
The
navigator hit a few buttons. The ship
took another hit from the laser blaster.
The navigator seemed flustered, but he continued to enter commands onto
his computer.
"Ready
when you are, sir." he said.
The
Captain waited until the enemy ship was just behind them. "Go!" he shouted. The navigator mashed the red button. The small ship burst into warp speed, and
they were safe. For
now.
